Martin and Marion Shirran

Martin and Marion Shirran specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-based approaches to behavioural weight management, health psychology and long-term behaviour change. With more than two decades of experience, their recent work has focused increasingly on the psychological and behavioural challenges emerging after GLP-1 treatment pathways end, including appetite return, weight regain, anxiety and long-term maintenance support.
As co-directors of Oxford Therapeutics, Martin and Marion developed Tactile Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (TCBT), an applied behavioural framework based on CBT principles and designed to improve behavioural interruption, awareness, and long-term engagement.

Their work around TCBT was endorsed by Professor Windy Dryden of Goldsmiths, University of London, while Professor Philip Zimbardo of Stanford University wrote the foreword to their second book. Martin and Marion have also presented aspects of their behavioural work at university-based psychology conferences across Europe, including events connected with Professor Zimbardo’s academic network.
The couple are internationally published authors whose previous books were published globally by Hay House. Their behavioural work has also featured internationally, including appearances on Good Morning America in New York and This Morning in the UK. Their work has also been widely covered in publications including The Times, The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mail, Marie Claire, Vogue and Hello!.

Through clinical practice, published behavioural work, media appearances and direct conversations with GLP-1 users, Martin and Marion Shirran have become increasingly focused on the growing gap between successful weight loss and long-term post-medication support. Their work now centres on behavioural maintenance, appetite management and the psychological transition that often follows the end of GLP-1 treatment pathways.
Martin Shirran holds a Premier Certificate in REBT (CBT) from the School of Psychology at Birmingham University. Marion Shirran holds a degree from Lancaster University and is a registered stakeholder contributor with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). She is also involved with the UK Government’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Obesity.
